Supporting habitat and species recovery.

A new Nature Center for the US Fish and Wildlife and Salem Audubon Society, this building is located on 2,796 acres situated within the Willamette Valley just off Interstate 5. It is less than an hour’s drive from eight out of the ten most populated cities in Oregon and is located on the Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway between Salem and Albany, and the Willamette loop of the Willamette Valley Birding Trail. This site provides a variety of habitats for migrating and resident waterfowl and other birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians. The refuge’s objective is to contribute to recovery of those species by restoring and increasing populations. This is a phased project, with the first phase totaling 2,800 sq. ft completed in January of 2019. Once complete, it will total 5,500 sq. ft. The building will remain unoccupied until the remaining site work is completed by the owner.
